Information released Monday by Statistics Canada revealed Canadian wholesale trade rose less than expected in April, gaining 0.1% from March, following two straight months of declines.

Sales of wholesaling logs, wood chips, minerals, precious metals and other products in the miscellaneous sector led the gain as trade increased in three of seven sectors. In volume terms, sales rose 0.2%.
