Registers at retail stores in Canada were clicking more rapidly in April.
Figures released Wednesdsay by Statistics Canada say retail sales hiked 0.9% to $44.3 billion in April, reversing a drop in March, and matching the expectations of economists.
The agency reports sales were up in seven of 11 sub-sectors.
Statistics Canada also said the overall increase for April was driven by a gain in sales at gasoline stations which climbed 6% due to higher prices at the pump.
Excluding sales at gasoline stations, retail sales gained 0.4%
The nation's number crunchers conclude retail sales increased in every province, except Manitoba.
