Futures Climb Mid-Week



Stock futures rose Wednesday after the S&P 500 posted a third losing session, as investors weighed newly released U.S. economic data.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials raced 106 points, or 0.2%, to 48,585.

Futures for the much broader index captured 18 points, or 0.3%, to 6,874.25.

Futures for the NASDAQ galloped 87.75 points, or 0.4%, to 25,468.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s board unanimously recommended that shareholders reject Paramount Skydance’s takeover bid and stick with Netflix’s proposal — which they called “superior.”

Netflix shares ticked higher by 1% in the premarket. Warner shed 1.8% along with Paramount.

On the economic front, Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller and New York Fed President John Williams are slated to speak on Wednesday morning.

Traders are also looking ahead to Thursday’s release of the consumer price index reading for November.

Overseas, the Nikkei 225 in Japan rebounded 0.3% Wednesday, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index hiked 0.9%.

Oil prices gained a dollar to $56.27

Gold prices brightened $24.80 to $4,357.10.
