Artificial intelligence (A.I.) startup company Anthropic has been valued at $380 billion U.S. in its latest funding round.
Anthropic, the creator of the A.I. chatbot Claude, raised $30 billion U.S. in a funding round led by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund and the U.S. investment firm Coatue.
The largest investor in Anthropic remains Amazon (AMZN), which has put $8 billion U.S. into the company and uses its technology widely across its operations.
The latest funding round also included a portion of the $15 billion U.S. that Nvidia (NVDA) and Microsoft (MSFT) committed to invest in Anthropic last November.
In a news release, Anthropic said that it will use the new funds to continue building “enterprise-grade products” and A.I. models.
Anthropic, which was founded by ex-OpenAI employees in 2021, said it is on track for sales of $14 billion U.S. this year. The company isn’t yet profitable.
At a $380 billion U.S. valuation, Anthropic is still dwarfed by ChatGPT maker OpenAI, whose valuation sits at $500 billion U.S.
Along with OpenAI and Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Anthropic is one of three valuable startups that’s expected to go public over the next year.
