Rogers Confirms Tony Staffieri As Its Permanent CEO

Rogers Communications (RCI.A) has appointed Tony Staffieri as its chief executive officer (CEO) to lead the company through its takeover of Shaw Communications (SJR.B), removing the interim label that he’s held for several months.

The Canadian wireless and cable company named Staffieri as its permanent president and CEO in a statement.

Staffieri had been given the role on a temporary basis in mid-November after a courtroom battle within the Rogers family left Edward Rogers in control of the company’s board of directors.

The move may widen the rift between Edward and other Rogers family members, including his sister, Melinda Rogers-Hixon, who said in a media interview last month that she believed the company should do a global search for a new CEO.

Staffieri is a career finance executive who has not previously served in a CEO role.
