TransGlobe, Power out with results, hit 52-week highs

TransGlobe Energy Corporation (T.TGL) hit a new 52-week high of $4.95; TransGlobe Energy announced its financial and operating results for the three months and year ended December 31, 2009. All dollar values are expressed in United States dollars unless otherwise stated.

Highlights include for 2009: production increased to 8,980 barrels of oil per day ("Bopd") from an average 7,342 Bopd in 2008, a growth rate of 22%; year-end 2009 Proved ("1P") reserves increased 53% to 19.2 million barrels ("MMBbl"), representing a production replacement for the year of 301%; a return to positive earnings in Q4 with improved prices and a 53% increase in Proved reserves at year-end.

Power Financial Corporation (T.PWF) hit a new 52-week high of $32.39; Power Financial Corporation's operating earnings for the year ended December 31, 2009 were $1,533 million or $2.05 per share, compared with $1,974 million or $2.69 per share in 2008. Net earnings were $1,439 million or $1.92 per share in 2009, compared with $1,337 million or $1.79 per share in 2008.

Power Financial Corporation's operating earnings for the three-month period ended December 31, 2009 were $384 million or $0.51 per share, compared with $434 million or $0.59 per share in the same period in 2008. Net earnings for the fourth quarter of 2009 were $340 million or $0.45 per share, compared with a net loss of $773 million or $1.12 per share for the same period in 2008.
