U.S. Trade Deficit Widens in October

The trade gap involving goods shipped to and from the United States widened more than expected last month.

The U.S. Commerce Department said Friday, that with imports rising and exports falling, the trade deficit widened to $62.0 billion in October from $56.5 billion in September. The deficit had been expected to widen to $59.7 billion.

While the value of imports climbed by 1.1% to $184.1 billion, the value of exports fell by 2.7% to $122.1 billion.
