Earnings Reviewed

During the quarter ended on March 31, 2017, Infosys' total net revenues increased to $2.57 billion from $2.45 billion recorded at the end of Q4 FY16. However, revenues for the reported quarter fell marginally short of market consensus estimates of $2.59 billion. Meanwhile, the Company's revenues were up by 5.3% y-o-y on constant currency terms.

The business consulting services provider reported net profit of $543 million, or $0.24 per diluted share, in Q4 FY17 compared to $533 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, in Q4 FY16. Wall Street had also expected the Company to report adjusted net profit of $0.24 per diluted share.

In FY17, Infosys' revenues came in at $10.21 billion, rising 7.4% from $9.50 billion in the previous year. The Company's revenues growth on constant currency terms in full year FY17 was 8.3% y-o-y. Moreover, the Company's net profit increased during FY17 to $2.14 billion, or $0.94 per diluted share, from $2.05 billion, or $0.90 per diluted share, in FY16.

Operational Metrics

For the reported quarter, Infosys' gross profit was $955 million compared to $930 million from Q4 FY16. The Company spent $133 million on selling and marketing expenses in Q4 FY17 versus $134 million in Q4 FY16. Administrative expenses increased during the reported quarter to $188 million in Q4 FY17 from $171 million in Q4 FY16. The Company's operating profit rose to $634 million in Q4 FY17 from $625 million in the prior year's same quarter. Furthermore, operating margin for the reported quarter was 24.7%.

Balance Sheet

At the close of books in the reported quarter, Infosys had $3.49 billion in cash and cash equivalents compared to $4.94 billion at the close of books on March 31, 2016. Furthermore, the Company did not report any long-term debts in its books of accounts for any of the reported periods.

Dividend

In its earnings press release, Infosys announced a final dividend of Rs.14.75 per share ($0.23 per ADS) amounting to Rs. 4,078 crore ($628 million). The Company further stated that including the interim dividend of Rs. 11 per share ($0.17 per ADS), the aggregate dividend for full year FY17 amounts to Rs. 25.75 per share ($0.40 per ADS) resulting in total payout of Rs. 7,119 crore ($1.09 billion).

Outlook

In its guidance for the ending March 31, 2018,, the Company expects revenue to grow in the range of 6.5% to 8.5% on constant currency and in the range of 6.1% to 8.1% in USD terms, based on the exchange rates as of March 31, 2017. Furthermore, operating margin guidance for full year FY18 is in the range of 23% to 25%.

At the close of trading session on Monday, April 17, 2017, Infosys' stock price was marginally up 0.35% to end the day at $14.53.
