Wyoming Company Melvin Brewing Announces Its Scholarship Awardee for 2021

[ACCESSWIRE]

The Melvin Brewing Academic Scholarship recently announced its 2021 awardee. The winner is civil engineering student Natalie from Missouri University of Science and Technology, who will be receiving the $ 1,000 financial grant in the fall of next semester.

JACKSON, WY / ACCESSWIRE / April 21, 2021 / The scholarship founded by the Melvin Brewing Company chose its 2021 awardee. Hailing from Missouri University of Science and Technology, Natalie, a civil engineering junior impressed the decision-makers with her essay about her experiences in community empowerment.

Pursuing a higher education degree seems like a far-fetched dream for many. Although around 70% of high school students will proceed to go to college, a portion of them will go through financial difficulties due to the ever-increasing tuition fees. Unfortunately, this hindrance may be a large factor in why some students fail to graduate.

Wyoming-based beer craft company Melvin Brewing understands this predicament faced by college students. The organization puts a high value on philanthropy and service to others, and this is one of the reasons why the company put up its scholarship program for deserving current and upcoming college students. They believe that giving hope to future leaders means building the pillars of communities that these individuals will serve.

This is exactly what the 2021 Melvin Brewing Scholarship awardee Natalie embodied. Answering the essay question prompt, "How do you plan to use the funds from this scholarship in your journey to continue your education?", she talked about her formative experiences of finding a career that will create a positive impact on others:

"When I discovered engineering, I found the profession that would allow me to do everything I wanted to with my life. By applying knowledge of science and math for the advancement of society, engineering combines my academic strengths with my lifelong aspiration to improve the world around me," Natalie mentioned.

She also talked about her life-changing experience working with co-volunteers under Engineer Without Borders (EWB). According to Natalie, the volunteering experience truly opened her eyes to how much engineering can impact communities that need all the help they can get:

"I joined EWB my freshman year and was immediately sucked in. On my team, we are working to design and build a school and public bathroom for our Guatemalan community. I stepped into the role of lead translator right away, moving on to lead the entire project by my sophomore year. EWB has made a world of difference in my education experience," she explained.

As a junior on her way to graduate in a few year's time, Natalie would want to use the financial grant to pay for materials she needs to pursue her education.

"Given the chance, I would use these funds to cover the costs of my books, supplies, and wellbeing so that I may continue my education and further my impact on the world around me. With help, I can continue to help others," she concluded her essay.

By helping students like Natalie, the Melvin Brewing Scholarship desires to strengthen underserved communities by giving future leaders the knowledge and experience they need through education. To know about the scholarship program of Melvin Brewing, you may visit the official website.
