Last month proved a drab one for job seekers in this country.
Figures released this morning by Statistics Canada showed our economy lost 1,000 jobs in February, and the unemployment rate ticked up 0.2 percentage points to 6.8%.
StatsCan said Friday that most of the job losses came in Ontario and Alberta, but there were also decreases in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador, while they increased in Quebec.
In other provinces, the job market has been stagnating for the past two months.
The agency also said Canada's economy actually added 34,000 full-time jobs during the month, but that figure was more than offset by a loss of almost 35,000 part-time jobs.
