The number of new vehicles sold in Canada rose 2.5% in June, mainly on higher truck sales, government data released Friday shows.
Canadians picked up the keys to 130,135 new units in the month, Statistics Canada said.
Sales of trucks including minivans, SUVs, vans and buses outnumbered passenger car sales for the seventh month in a row, rising by 3.2%.
Sales of cars were up 1.6% to 57,426 units. Following three months of decreases, sales of North American-built cars rose 2.2%.
Eight provinces saw a jump in sales with residents in Quebec and Nova Scotia driving more cars off dealer lots.
Preliminary data suggests new vehicles sales rose again in July by 1%.
