Data regarding U.S. personal income and spending fell short of expectations. The data will figure into the Federal Reserve's decision on whether to raise interest rates before the end of the year.
Figures released this morning by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis show personal income rose 0.1% in September from August, missing expectations for a 0.1% increase. For August, it was revised higher to a 0.4% increase from a previously reported 0.3%.
Consumer spending rose 0.1%, also missing a 0.2% consensus while the PCE Price Index declined 0.1% as expected.
