The market indicators enjoyed a rally following Thursday's big decline, including Toronto's plunge of more than 200 points.
The S&P/TSX composite index spiked 111.91 points, to greet noon at 15,005.48.
The Canadian dollar gave back 0.42 cents to 89.59 cents U.S.
BlackBerry shares are up following its latest financial results. Its stock is ahead 34 cents at $10.14 U.S., offsetting part of the 71-cent decline they experienced on NASDAQ on Thursday. In Toronto, the shares soared 57 cents, or 5.2%, to $11.45.
BlackBerry's shares fell more than 6% Thursday amid a widespread decline on North American markets.
Bombardier jumped 4.3% after saying that aircraft leasing company Macquarie AirFinance had signed an agreement to buy 40 of its new CSeries jets, with an option for 10 more.
Shares of energy producers climbed, with the price of U.S. crude oil showing a similar gain. Canadian Natural Resources advanced 1% to $43.65, and Suncor Energy rose 0.8% to $40.61.
The gold-mining sector shed strength, reflecting weakness in the bullion price. Goldcorp lost 1.4% to $26.03, and Barrick Gold fell 0.9% to $16.96.

The TSX Venture Exchange grew 4.73 points to 916.
All but two of the 14 Toronto subgroups were higher by midday, led by information technology, up 1.5%. energy, growing 1.3%, and industrials, spiking 1.1%.
Only gold, down 0.9%, and materials, sliding 0.3%, spoiled the party.
ON WALLSTREET
The U.S. stock market moved higher on Friday, as a rout during the previous session inspired buyers looking for bargains, but the main benchmarks are still set to finish the week lower, after a rough week for stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrials recuperated somewhat from yesterday’s 260-point fall, gaining back 62.10 points to 17,007.90
The S&P 500 moved higher 5.73 points to 1,971.72. The NASDAQ gained 18.11 points to 4,484.72.
Apple Inc. shares recovered some of the sharp losses on Thursday as the company tried to calm concerns about its new iPhone 6 Plus bending claims. Shares rose 1.4%.
Nike shares jumped 10% after the athletic apparel and gear maker late Thursday posted better-than-expected quarterly earnings.
Finish Line reported that its profit fell 1.3%, hampered by rising expenses. Shares sank 10%.
Chiquita Brands International and Fyffes PLC agreed to revised terms of a merger plan under which Chiquita would have a greater share of the combined company.
Chip maker Micron gained 6.8% after fourth-quarter results topped Wall Street’s estimates late Thursday.
The U.S. economy grew at a 4.6% annual pace in the second quarter. The increase in real gross domestic product was revised up from 4.2%, mainly because of higher exports and business investment, the Commerce Department said Friday. The biggest gains came in business investment, a good sign for the economy in the months ahead.
Prices for 10-year U.S. Treasuries ducked back, raising yields to 2.53% from Thursday’s 2.51%. Treasury prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Oil prices gained 40 cents to $92.93 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices sank $6.70 to $1,215.20 U.S. an ounce.
