Stock futures pointed to a higher opening for equity markets in Toronto on Friday after crude prices rose.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 32.42 points to close Thursday at 15,180.33, with futures up Friday by 0.1%.
The Canadian dollar nicked up 0.12 cents to 80.15 cents U.S. early Friday.
First Quantum Minerals reported a 42.5% drop in quarterly profit as copper prices plunged to five-and-a-half year lows.
Enbridge, Canada's largest pipeline company, said it returned to profit in the fourth quarter as new projects entered service.
Centerra Gold reported a loss for the fourth quarter as the miner produced and sold fewer ounces of gold and took a goodwill impairment charge due to a fall in reserves and resources at its Kumtor mine in Kyrgyzstan.

Economically speaking, Statistics Canada reported this morning retail sales for December flopped 2% to $42.1 billion, the biggest decrease in nearly five years. The agency reported lower sales in nine of 11 sub-sectors, representing 71% of retail trade.

U.S. stock futures are relatively steady and European markets are dipping only slightly.
Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials faded 34 points, or 0.2%, to 17,925. Futures for the S&P 500 lost five points, or 0.2%, to 2,090.25, and futures for the NASDAQ dipped 3.5 points, or 0.1%, to 4,409.75.
Investors are watching trading in Apple on Friday after Bloomberg reported the company is looking to begin production of an electric vehicle as early as 2020.
This follows accusations that Apple has been poaching employees from a company that makes batteries for electric cars, fueling speculation the iPhone maker is seriously looking to enter the auto market.
Tesla -- a leader in the electric car market -- could be competing head-to-head with any potential Apple iAuto.
Shares in Intuit are rising by roughly 4% in extended trading after earnings beat expectations.
Investors are watching as euro-zone finance ministers hold emergency meetings to try to hash out a new debt deal for Greece.
Greece's current bailout program -- where it's loaned money by other euro-zone states to help pay its bills -- expires on February 28.
Greece doesn't want to continue the bailout under its current strict terms, but if it can't reach a deal with European creditors it risks running out of money, defaulting on its debts and stumbling out of the euro-zone very soon.
Oil prices gained 0.6% to $51.48 U.S. a barrel
Gold prices hiked 0.4% to $1,212.60 U.S. an ounce.
