Stock futures pointed to a higher opening for Canada's main stock index on Friday, tracking gains in U.S. stock indexes after the NASDAQ touched a post-dotcom-boom peak in its previous session.
The S&P/TSX composite index hiked 87.58 points to end Thursday at 15,392.35. Futures Friday picked up 0.2%.
The Canadian dollar picked up 0.18 cents to 82.52 cents U.S. early Friday.

Investors are cheering after a handful of tech heavyweights reported earnings Thursday evening.
Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials nicked ahead 12 points, or 0.1%, to 17,993. Futures for the S&P 500 gained 2.5 points, or 0.1%, to 2,109.50, and futures for the NASDAQ gained 29.50 points, or 0.7%, to 4,511.80
Amazon stock is surging -- up about 7% pre-market -- after the company reported a big jump in quarterly sales. Despite the higher revenue, the online retail giant ultimately lost money over the first three months of the year.
Shares in Microsoft are up about 3% pre-market after the company released earnings that beat Wall Street's expectations.
Google shares are rising in extending trading, despite falling short of analysts' expectations.
And Juniper Networks shares are jumping -- up nearly 7% -- after the firm's latest earnings surpassed market expectations.
Meanwhile, it's worth watching trading in Apple Friday. The company is beginning to deliver its new Apple Watches today. Some customers are going to have to wait longer for their watches.
The NASDAQ seems set to continue pushing into record territory Friday -- supported by Amazon, Google and Microsoft.
American Airlines, Xerox and Steve Madden are reporting ahead of the open.
European markets are all posting solid gains in early trading. Asian markets ended the day with mixed results.
Oil prices sifted off 18 cents to $57.56 U.S. a barrel
Gold prices fell $7.80 to $1,186.50 U.S. an ounce.
