Futures on Canada’s main stock index were slightly firmer as oil prices reversed course to trade higher after falling nearly a full percentage point.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index leaped 211.35 points, or 1.6%, to finish Tuesday at 13,775.19, with June futures inching up 0.05% Wednesday.
The Canadian dollar strengthened 0.17 cents to 77.64 cents U.S. early Wednesday.

U.S. stock futures are taking a step back after all the main indexes surged by 1.3% on Tuesday.
Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials dropped 35 points, or 0.2%, to 17,818, while futures for the S&P 500 dipped 2.75 points, or 0.1%, to 2,074.75. NASDAQ futures fell 4.75 points, or 0.1%, to 4,387.25
Shares in Staples and Office Depot are crashing in pre-market trading after they called off their merger plans.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission said last year that combining the two companies would give them too large a chunk of the office supply retail market -- which would violate antitrust laws.
