Futures Pointing Higher in Toronto


Stock futures pointed to a higher opening for Canada's main stock index on Thursday

The S&P/TSX Composite stayed positive 32.95 points to conclude Wednesday at 15,361.10. Futures Thursday were up 0.1%

The Canadian dollar found its way higher 0.17 cents to 73.83 U.S. early Thursday.

Restaurant chains Burger King and Tim Hortons plan to switch to chicken raised without antibiotics considered "critically important" to human medicine, making it the latest company to ditch the drugs over health concerns.

The TSX Venture Exchange rocketed 17.81 points, or 2.5%, Wednesday to 745.94

ON WALLSTREET

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a flat open on Thursday, as investors prepared to wade through more data, while trying to see if there's any chance of the Dow Jones' reaching 20,000 before the year is out.

Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials were unchanged at 19,775. Futures for the S&P 500 inched up 1.25 points, or 0.1%, to 2,246.50. NASDAQ futures were unchanged at 4,923.75.

On the data front, Thursday will see the release of the most recent jobless claims data, on top of U.S. trade deficit data.

European stocks posted slight losses on Thursday morning, while Asia-Pacific indexes finished mixed overnight

Oil prices docked five cents to $54.01 U.S. a barrel

Gold prices poked up $5.90 to $1,146.80 U.S. an ounce.
