Stock futures pointed to a higher opening for Canada's main stock index on Thursday as investors assessed a raft of quarterly earnings.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index moved lower 50.37 points to close Wednesday at 15,854.77
The Canadian dollar eked up 0.07 cents at 78.18 cents U.S. Thursday morning.
December futures inched up 0.1% Thursday morning.
Potash Corp of Saskatchewan reported a smaller-than-expected quarterly profit on Thursday and tightened its full-year earnings forecast as costs increased.
Suncor Energy reported a higher-than-expected third-quarter profit on Wednesday due to record production and strong refinery output.
Teck Resources said its third-quarter profit more than doubled from a year ago, lifted by higher coal and metal prices.

On the economic beat, Statistics Canada said average weekly earnings were $975 in August, up 0.9% from the previous month. Compared with the previous August, earnings increased 1.7%.

U.S. stock index futures are expected to begin Thursday's trade on a relatively flat note, as investors gear up for another slew of major corporate earnings.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials gained 43 points, or 0.2%, to 23,344
S&P 500 futures took on three points, or 0.1%, to 2,561.50, while futures on the NASDAQ Composite index doffed 0.25 points to 6,064.25.
Corporate earnings continue to flood in, with a whole host of firms set to publish their latest financial figures. Twitter, Comcast, Ford, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Southwest Airlines are just a few that have reported before the bell.
Alphabet, Amazon, Intel, Microsoft, Mattel, Expedia are some of the major names set to report earnings after the bell.
In data news, jobless claims and advance economic indicators kick off the day with both releases coming out at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Shortly after, pending home sales will be released at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the Kansas City Fed manufacturing survey will then be release at 11 a.m. ET.
Overseas, European stocks were slightly higher approaching noon on the continent Monday, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 improved 0.2%, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index gained 0.4%
Oil prices slid three cents to $52.15 U.S. per barrel.
Gold prices docked $2.40 to $1,276.60 U.S. an ounce.
