Futures for Canada's resources-heavy main stock index rose on Tuesday as oil and gold prices advanced, with traders returning to thin trade in the absence of U.S. markets after a long weekend.
The TSX leaped 242.12 points, or 1.2%, to end Friday at 20,155.29, for a gain on the week of 737 points, or 3.8%.
September futures gained 0.3% Tuesday.
The Canadian dollar gathered 0.16 cents to 75.64 cents U.S.
Investors will keep a close eye on the domestic June factory activity data due at 9:30 a.m. ET for more cues on the health of the economy and the Bank of Canada's (BoC) stance on further monetary policy tightening.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 dipped 1% Tuesday, while markets in Hong Kong prospered 0.6%
Oil prices increased $1.25 to $71.04 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices gained $6.50 to $1,936.00. U.S. an ounce.

The TSX Venture Exchange gathered 8.31 points, or 1.4%, Friday to 621.33, advancing more than 22 points, or 3.78% on the week.
ON WALLSTREET
Monday, the Dow Jones Industrials gained 10.87 points to 34,418.47.
The S&P closed up 5.21 points to 4,455.59.
The NASDAQ picked up 28.85 points to 13,816.77.
Markets in the U.S. are closed Tuesday for Independence Day. They’ll resume business Wednesday.
