According to a report by BuddeComm, mobile penetration continues to vary widely throughout the world. The report notes that in Europe nearly 80% of the population were unique mobile subscribers at the end of 2014. In Sub-Saharan Africa, on the other hand, only 39% of the population were unique mobile subscribers.
This variation also creates an opportunity for mobile communications service providers.
BuddeComm further says in its report that developing regions are the ones where there will be the most significant growth in mobile penetration over the years to come.
The report further notes that the increasing use of smartphones and tablets will result in the amount of mobile data downloaded to double annually at least for the next few years.
However, the existing mobile broadband infrastructure has limitations. BuddeComm believes that if the mobile broadband infrastructure cannot handle all the data then this will have a negative impact on all the mobile applications and services being created. The report though adds that WiFi could be a good customer access alternative.
BuddeComm notes that the future for the mobile sector is generally positive. However, it adds that there are some challenges. One challenge is the financial profile of many major carriers.
Several companies are also seeing declining revenues and average revenue per users (ARPU) as well as increased competition. It will be interesting to see if mobile communications companies can capitalize on the anticipated growth in the sector despite the increasing competition.
Siyata Mobile Inc. (TSX-Venture:SIM) is a Toronto-based developer and provider of a vehicle mounted communications platform over advanced mobile networks. The company’s customers include cellular operators, commercial vehicle technology distributors and fleets of all sizes in Canada, the U.S., Europe, Australia and the Middle East.
This morning, SIM announced record sales for the first three quarters of 2015. The company reported unaudited sales of $7.2 million for the first three quarters of 2015, which represents an increase of 53% over the first three quarters of 2014.
The company said that with the current run rate, 2015 looks to be very promising for strong year-over-year revenue growth. SIM added that its Truckfone and Voyager devices are not only being sold in multiple jurisdictions around the world, but they are also seeing acceptance across numerous commercial industries where they are being introduced.
Marc Seelenfreund, CEO of Siyata Mobile, said that the company has a great opportunity to grab market share in the lucrative commercial fleet market.
Even though the news announcement was overwhelmingly positive, shares of SIM were trading even at $0.22 in early afternoon trading.
