Insiders At This Small Company Are Buying Heavy: Should You Too?

With any series of insider purchases in any company generally representing a positive “buy” signal to financial markets, keeping an eye on which companies may be poised for a breakout by assessing the actions of the company’s management team is one old-fashioned way of sifting through the noise in today’s information heavy investing environment.

One small Canadian venture mining firm, Orla Mining Ltd. (TSXV:OLA) has seen continued buying in recent months, despite the company’s stock price climbing substantially as insiders have continued to buy. How much of the increase in Orla’s share price can be attributed to insider buying is uncertain, however it appears that as insiders continue to add to the amount of skin each has in the game, the level of confidence investors can place in this company has continued to rise, potentially leading to a significant portion of the forward momentum exhibited by this name.

As a small venture company with a market capitalization of only $285 million, Orla falls under the radar for investors limiting searches to the TSX or S&P500, as well as for any companies operating less than $300 million. While I don’t normally cover companies with market capitalizations less than $500 million, the recent activity at Orla stood out, leading me to recommend small and micro-cap investors take a look at this company.
