McDonald’s Brings out Q4, Year-End Figures

McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) progressed on stock markets Wednesday, on announcing fourth-quarter year-end financial figures.

Global comparable sales increased 4.4% in the fourth-quarter, reflecting positive comparable sales across all segments. On a year-end basis, growth was 4.5%, reflecting positive comparable sales across all segments.

Q4 diluted earnings per share was $1.82, reflecting non-cash impairment charges of $0.18 per share, partly offset by an income tax benefit of $0.03 per share associated with the final 2018 adjustments to the provisional amounts recorded in the prior year under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

On a year-end basis, diluted earnings per share of $7.54 increased 18%
Revenues in the fourth quarter totaled $5.16 billion, compared to $5.34 billion in the prior-year quarter. Year-end, that figure was $21 billion, compared to $22.8 billion in fiscal 2017.

Net income proved to be $1.415 billion in the fourth quarter, compared to $698.7 million, while on a yearly basis, net income enjoyed a 14% improvement over the year before, vaulting to $5.9 billion from $5.19 billion.

Last week, the Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $1.16 per share of common stock payable on March 15, 2019 to shareholders of record at the close of business on March 1, 2019.

Said CEO Steve Easterbrook, "Our performance in 2018 was strong, driven by the Velocity Growth Plan with broad-based momentum across each of our global segments. We continued to transform our business by making substantial progress on modernizing our restaurants and offering more convenience, choice and value to our customers."

Shares popped $3.46, or 1.9%, to $185.63
