Three well-known Canadian insurance brands are uniting under a single new banner.
Great-West Life, Canada Life and London Life are banding together and will be known as "Canada Life" going forward.
"Our three companies, Great-West Life, Canada Life and London Life are celebrating the next stage of our journey. Welcome, as we unite under a single brand," said Jeff Macoun, President of Canada Life, in a news release.
"The new Canada Life brand combines the strengths of our three companies so we can even better deliver on our purpose — to improve the financial, physical and mental well-being of Canadians."
The demise of the London Life brand was announced at the historic London Life building in downtown London, Ontario. London Life was founded in 1874 and currently employs about 3,000 people in the southern Ontario city. It merged with Great-West Life in 1997 and then joined with Canada Life in 2003.
Now the companies will operate solely under the Canada Life name and brand. The company says the change, which requires board, regulatory and policyholder approvals, will further simplify the insurance businesses.
The Canada Life rebrand will happen gradually over the next year, the companies said. Customers will continue to work with the same advisors and group benefits won't change. Canada Life will have more than 10,500 employees across the country and serve 13 million customers across the country.
