With Memorial Day just around the corner, thoughts are turning to engines and modes of transport. Revolutionary ways of turning an engine are in focus and one British Columbia-based firm is awaiting its cue to show off its new wares.
In late May, REGI U.S., Inc. (OTCBB:RGUS) announced a full design review for the demonstration RadMax(TM) Diesel Engine Design, which is to take place June 15-16.
The design review will cover the thermodynamic engineering work, which is vital to understanding the temperatures and pressures for various operating conditions. RGUS adds that the design review will also cover material selections, sealing solutions, component geometry, mechanical integration, and operating limitations.
REGI US, Inc., out of Richmond, B.C. is developing for commercialization an improved axial vane type rotary engine known as the Rand Cam(TM)/RadMax(TM) rotary technology used in the revolutionary design of lightweight and high efficiency engines, compressors and pumps.
The RadMax engine has only two unique moving parts, the vanes (up to 12) and the rotor, compared to the 40 moving parts in a simple four-cylinder piston engine. This innovative design makes it possible to produce up to 24 continuous power impulses per one rotation that is vibration-free and extremely quiet.
RGUS currently owns the U.S. rights to the technology. The Company's goal is to license RadMax™ technology and/or to participate in joint ventures to manufacture specific RadMax applications.
In 2003, a license option agreement was completed with Radian Milparts and an improved version of the Rand Cam Rotary engine was developed and called the RadMax design, which now incorporates 12 vanes for superior power and efficiency.
Late in 2005, all rights were assigned to RGUS by Radian Milparts. The RadMax design patent is pending. Last year, the RadMax engine concept was presented and a commitment to CGI was accepted from the Company to complete and commercialize a light weight, fuel efficient engine that will reduce emissions up to 35% using gasoline as a fuel in automobiles and, if used in hybrid car applications, can be reduced up to 55% with a mileage of 54 miles (about 88 kilometres) per gallon and/or 76 miles (125 kilometres) per gallon respectively.
RGUS’ stock price peaked in late February at 78.5 cents, after hitting bottom for the last year at 18 cents. The price came in on May 27, the day of the Engine Design announcement, at 31 cents, sufficiently low to get investors a reason to give it a second look.
