Miners Enjoy Fine Day

Miners are finding their way into investors’ conscious late Monday, with a variety of companies displaying solid results, from both sides of the border.

Stateside, there is Corpus Christi, Texas-based Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSE:UEC). The Company controls one of the largest databases of historic uranium exploration and development in the country. Using this knowledge base, the Company has acquired and is advancing exploration properties of merit throughout the southwestern U.S.

Uranium Energy announced in December successful completion of Uranium Royalty Corp. initial public offering raising total gross proceeds of $30 million Canadian.

The company sprouted 6.9 cents, or 8.3%, to 89.89 cents, on volume of 1.8 million shares.

Above the 49th parallel, there was Ely Gold Royalties Inc. (TSX-Venture:ELY). The Vancouver-based Ely Monday signed a binding term sheet to buy 75 patented mining claims from Cliff ZZ LLC, a Nevada limited liability company.The patented claims are located in Esmeralda and Nye Counties, Nevada and are known as the Tonopah Extension Claims.

ELY shares jumped eight cents, or 11.4%, just before Monday’s close, to 78 cents, on volume of 862,000
