Since a certain petroleum company did not hearken to the wisdom of practicing the proverbial ounce of prevention – and paid the price in money, reputation and environmental catastrophe – it is at least cheerful to hear of one company capitalizing on offering the proverbial pound of cure.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based Enviro Voraxial Technology, Inc. (OTCBB:EVTN) has made headlines since the dreadful oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico last spring by making and promoting a technology geared to help in cleaning up such disasters.
In mid-October, EVTN announced a purchase order for a Voraxial® 2000 and a Voraxial® 4000 unit from Impresa Metalmeccanica & Carpenterie (IMCA), a renowned Italian engineering firm. Under the agreement, IMCA will also have the right to market the Voraxial® technology within Italy for a period of one year, at such time the agreement can be extended. IMCA has several prospective customers that require efficient separation solutions.
EVTN has developed and patented the Voraxial® Separator; what it boasts to be “a revolutionary and proprietary technology that efficiently separates large volumes of solids and liquids with different specific gravities.” The Voraxial® Separator acts as an in-line, continuous flow separator that can conduct high-volume liquid/liquid, liquid/solid or liquid/liquid/solid separation, and performs this separation without a pressure drop. The Voraxial® 2000 Separator is said to process and separate up to 2,000 barrels per day (bpd); the Voraxial 4000 up to 15,000 bpd; the 8000 Separator up to 100,000 bpd.
Just to give you an estimate on the scope of the cleanup that can be done with this Company’s technology. It was estimated that 53,000 bpd were escaping from the BP Deepwater Horizon well just before the well was capped. It is also believed that the daily flow rate diminished over time, starting at around 62,000 barrels per day and dropping as the reservoir of hydrocarbons feeding the gusher was gradually depleted.
Though this year’s oil spill provides the just most notorious example of Voraxial’s effectiveness, the applications for this technology span many global industrial sectors. The Voraxial has already been deployed for critical fluid and fluid/solid separation processes in the oil and gas, mining, oil spill, and refinery sectors, but also in the manufacturing, marine, agriculture, dredging, and pulp and paper sectors.
When the hysteria over the oil spill was at or near its height, in June, so was the price for EVTN stock, at $1.17 a share. The same was true of the price’s low, which dipped to 21 cents in September, soon after the spill was capped. The news on October 13 of the IMCA contract inspired a mini-surge in volume for the stock, which traded in more than 140,000 shares at time of writing. The price budged two cents higher at 35 cents, a level the company hopes will provide a springboard, as more uses for its technology are found.
