Miners Make Presence Felt

Finding stocks on the way up Tuesday almost required a miner’s helmet to find. The materials sector in New York floundered 1.6%, while in Canada, the group gathered 0.7%,

South of the border, Steamboat Springs, Colorado-based Western Sierra Resource Corp (OTC: WSRC), a resource company with a 113-year history of natural resource asset acquisition, development, conservation, and monetization, announced a step-up in its assets.

The company now owns valuable water assets in Northern Colorado, but has recently acquired additional natural resource assets, and is under contract to immediately purchase revenue-producing proprietary conservation technologies which demonstrate the miner’s commitment to utilize responsibly, while also conserving, natural resources to the benefit of the Company’s shareholders. WSRC will be announcing these acquisitions over the coming weeks and months as they are completed.

The recent upward pressure on the value of precious metals as a hedge against global currency fluctuation and devaluation has prompted WSRC to acquire 100% ownership of LWH, LLC, the owner of a substantial precious metals property. Meantime, Tuesday’s news release went on to say LWH is also evaluating several other precious metals and / or rare earth elements properties for potential acquisition.

WSRC shares galloped 15.5% Tuesday noon hour to 2.31 cents, on volume of 2.7 million shares.

North of the border, Toronto-based AurCrest Gold Inc. (TSX-Venture:AGO) unveiled two further groups of claim cell units at the Company's Ranger Lake Gold Property and the Ranger East Gold Property in Northern Ontario. The process involves adding 10 cells and 17 cells to the Properties respectively, to better provide coverage for the area's regional geology.

Ranger Lake now comprises 60 cells with an area of approximately 1,220 hectares, while Ranger East comprises 67 cells with an area of approximately 1,360 hectares, both of which are within the world-famous Red Lake Mining District.

The stock shone like gold around noon time EDT on Tuesday, gaining a penny, or 20%, to six cents, on volume of 233,000.
