Online food delivery company Skip The Dishes has laid off 350 workers in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The company said the impacted employees were remote contact centre workers that supported
various markets around the world.
The cuts come after Skip The Dishes' parent company, Just Eat Takeaway (TKAYF), undertook
a review of its global workforce and decided to make changes that will lead to “sustainable
growth” moving forward.
Founded in 2012, Skip The Dishes was acquired in 2016 by London-based Just Eat Takeaway.
The online food delivery market thrived during the pandemic, with people staying home and
restaurants forced to close indoor dining. But the industry as struggled this year as economies
around the world reopen.
Just Eat Takeaway’s stock is down 63% this year and trading at Euro 18.53 per share (Cdn
$24.44).
