Thursday Night Football Draws Record Numbers To Amazon Prime

E-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN) is celebrating after its broadcast of Thursday Night Football
drew record numbers of people to its Prime subscription service.

The Thursday night broadcast of NFL football beat annual events such as Cyber Monday and
Prime Day in terms of attracting new subscribers, said Amazon.

“While we’re still waiting for official Nielsen ratings, our measurement shows that the audience
numbers exceeded all of our expectations,” said Amazon in a written statement.

Amazon paid $13 billion U.S. for the exclusive rights to broadcast Thursday night NFL games
over the next decade.

Prime offers subscribers live streaming video, as well as scripted television programs and
movies.

In the lead up to the Thursday night football broadcast, Amazon launched a highly anticipated
TV series based on the “Lord of the Rings” books.

Amazon stock is down 27% this year and trading at $124.66 U.S. per share.
