Ford Unveils New Vehicles: Now What?

After trading at between $15.50 - $16.00, Ford Motor (F) may pull back. The share price will depend on
the market’s response to its new models. Weighing against it is the weak economy ahead.

Ford vehicles are not immune to a slowing economy. Its richly priced Mach-E and Ford F-150 Electric
may have lower booking rates if wealthy consumers cut their spending.

Detroit Auto Show

At the auto show last week, Ford showed off its F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E SUV, and Bronco. It
updated the premium Lincoln with a Corsair premium compact SUV for 2023. The Lincoln Star is a
concept vehicle. The Lincoln Model L100 is also a concept vehicle that demonstrates autonomous
driving. The L100 does not have a steering wheel. Instead, it has a crystal controller.

Ford’s gas-powered Mustang sports car re-affirms the company’s commitment to both automobile
markets. The electric vehicle market is the future of the industry. However, prices are higher than gas-
powered cars. In addition, lithium battery material is in short supply. Ford needs to continue relying on
the iconic Mustang for now.

Your Takeaway

Ford stock may trade in a range. Its direction upward requires more than showcasing its vehicle at the
auto show. It needs to post rising profits in the quarters ahead.
