Brian Porter Retires As Scotiabank’s CEO

The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) has announced that Brian Porter, its president and chief executive officer
(CEO), will step down and retire next year.

In a press release, the bank said Porter’s last day will be January 31, 2023.

Porter will be succeeded in the top leadership role by Scott Thomson, who is currently the president and
chief executive officer of Caterpillar equipment deal Finning International (FTT), and a member of
Scotiabank’s board of directors.

Thomson will start in the role of president on December 1 this year.

Scotiabank’s stock is down 24% this year and trading at $69.23 per share.
