Canadian Drugmaker Apotex Being Acquired By SK Capital Partners

Canadian generic drugmaker Apotex Pharmaceuticals is being acquired by American SK
Capital Partners.

Both Apotex and SK Capital Partners are privately held, and terms of the deal were not
disclosed. However, SK Capital said the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals.

It has been reported since last year that Apotex was exploring a sale. The largest producer of
generic drugs in Canada, Apotex is estimated to have annual sales of more than $1 billion.

SK Capital is a New York-based private equity firm that focuses on the pharmaceutical sector
and chemicals industry. It says it has $6.6 billion U.S. in assets under management.

Apotex was founded in 1974 by Barry Sherman and is headquartered in Toronto.

In December 2017, Sherman and his wife Honey were found murdered in their Toronto home.
The high-profile deaths have made national news, but police have not yet made any arrests in
the case.
