Maple Leaf Foods (MFI) says it is continuing to restore its operations after being hit by a
systemwide cyberattack.
The Toronto-based consumer packaged meats company says problems remain as its
information technology team recovers the integrity of its system following an online attack last
weekend.
Maple Leaf Foods hasn’t said what functions of its operations were hurt by the cyberattack but
has said the disruption was across its entire business.
Fully recovering from the outage will take some time and result in service disruptions, the
company said.
News of the cyberattack came as Maple Leaf Foods reported third-quarter results. The
company announced a Q3 loss of $229.5 million, or $1.86 per share, for the July through
September period.
Revenue in this year’s third quarter totalled $1.23 billion, up from $1.19 billion in Q3 2021.
A year ago, Maple Leaf Foods reported a profit of $44.5 million or $0.36 a share.
Maple Leaf Foods’ stock is down 25% this year at $22.01 per share.
