Elon Musk Sells $3.6 Billion Worth Of Tesla Stock

Tesla (TSLA) chief executive officer Elon Musk has sold an additional 22 million shares of his electric vehicle company worth $3.6 billion U.S., according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The stock sale took place between December 12 and 14, according to the regulatory filing.

Musk has now sold 94,202,321 Tesla shares this year at an average price of $243.46 U.S. per share for gross proceeds of $22.93 billion U.S.

Musk started selling Tesla stock in the spring after agreeing to buy Twitter for $44 billion U.S. The acquisition closed on October 27.

After the takeover, Musk told Twitter employees that he sold Tesla shares to save the social media platform.

Tesla stock is down 60% this year at $156.80 U.S. per share, including a 30% decline since the Twitter acquisition closed at the end of October.
