Scotiabank Names Francisco Aristeguieta Head Of International Banking

Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) has named Francisco Aristeguieta its new head of international banking.

Aristeguieta will assume the new role on May 1, said the lender that is commonly known as Scotiabank.

The appointment of Aristeguieta is one of the first moves made by Scott Thomson, who became Scotiabank’s chief executive officer (CEO) earlier this year.

Thomson has undertaken a strategic review at Scotiabank, with a particular focus on its international operations.

Aristeguieta was previously head of institutional services at financial services company State Street (STT) and led the Latin America regions for Citigroup (C).

Aristeguieta replaces Ignacio Deschamps who is retiring from the bank at the end of April.

Scotiabank’s stock has declined 22% in the last 12 months to trade at $67.61 per share.
