Westport Fuel Systems CEO David Johnson Resigns

David Johnson, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Westport Fuel Systems (WPRT), has resigned from his leadership role and the company’s board of directors, effective immediately.

The company announced that Westport board member Tony Guglielmin will serve as interim CEO while a permanent replacement for Johnson is found.

Vancouver-based Westport is a supplier of advanced fuel delivery components and systems for natural gas, propane, and hydrogen.

Westport said in a written statement that its board of directors has formed a search committee to identify and hire the company's next CEO.

Johnson was appointed chief executive officer of Westport Fuels in 2019. He came to the company after serving as president and CEO of privately held Achates Power.

It is not clear why Johnson abruptly resigned from the company.

Westport Fuel Systems’ stock has declined 30% over the last 12 months and is down 73% over five years. The company’s shares currently trade at $9.94 each.
