Apple (AAPL) has announced that it will hold a product event at its California headquarters on September 12, where the company is widely expected to unveil the new iPhone 15.
The consumer electronics giant said that the event will be streamed on its website at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Apple has used pre-recorded videos to launch new products since the Covid-19 pandemic struck in 2020.
The newest iPhone models are expected to use a USB-C charging port after the European Union passed legislation last year requiring all mobile devices sold in the European Union to use USB-C for wired charging, with a deadline to comply of December 2024.
There are also media reports that some of the new devices that Apple debuts at the September event could be made of titanium metal.
The company might also announce new Apple Watch models, including an updated version of the high-end Apple Watch Ultra.
Apple also tends to release new versions of its operating system for iPhones at its annual event in September.
This year, the iOS 17 software includes a more visual caller ID feature, an improved autocorrect function, and a new app that can be used for journaling.
Apple is under pressure with its new products as its most recent earnings showed declining sales across all of its electronic devices, including the iPhone, iPad and Mac computers.
Apple’s stock has increased 16% over the last 12 months and currently trades at $184.12 U.S. per share.
