iPhone maker Apple (AAPL) is on the cusp of achieving a $5 trillion U.S. market capitalization.
The company narrowly missed the milestone on Sept. 22, closing with a market capitalization of $4.96 trillion U.S. In intraday trading, the market cap got as high as $4.98 trillion U.S.
AAPL stock is up 25% this year and has risen 10% in the past month after the company’s new CEO John Ternus took the helm and the company unveiled a foldable iPhone.
Apple’s share price needs to close at $342.60 U.S. for the company to reach a $5 trillion U.S. market cap.
That would make the consumer electronics giant only the second publicly traded company to trade above a $5 trillion U.S. market capitalization, alongside chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA).
Nvidia’s market cap currently stands at $5.52 trillion U.S. Apple achieved a $4 trillion market value less than a year ago, in October 2025.
Apple shares have been on an upswing as the company undergoes a transition period.
In addition to a new CEO and the foldable “iPhone Duo,” Apple has also launched a Siri digital assistant that’s powered by artificial intelligence (A.I.).
The A.I.-powered Siri is now available for download but only accessible through the newest iPhone models.
AAPL stock finished trading on Sept. 22 at $339.75 U.S. per share, up 34% in the past year.
