One of the big criticisms of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) over the last few years has been a lack of innovation. New versions of old products just haven’t been very exciting.
The company hopes to change that soon, at least according to reports. These rumors say Apple is poised to not only publicly released its much-anticipated iPhone 7, but it also plans upgrades to its MacBook line of laptops.
According to a report, the new MacBook will have a touch-screen strip for function keys, as well as a more powerful processor, a slimmer screen, and a Touch ID scanner. Various retailers are putting existing MacBooks on sale, which further suggests new models are coming.
September 7 looks to be the tentative release date scheduled for the new iPhone. Rumors say there will be numerous upgrades including a better camera, longer battery life, and a higher screen resolution. Additionally, most insiders think Apple will officially remove the headphone jack in an attempt to make its new phone as thin as possible.
The phone is likely to look quite a bit different than the 5 and 6 models, which were virtually identical. Apple knows customers are clamoring for a new look.
Critics might say these are only superficial changes, not worth getting excited about. Perhaps, but that won’t stop millions of people from upgrading to the new device. The only issue is whether Apple will get enough sales to meet Wall Street’s already inflated expectations.
