Netflix Unveils Detailed Statistics on its Viewers

Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) has grown from humble beginnings as an at-home rental and DVD retailer in the late 2000s to one of the most valuable entertainment entities on earth in late 2023. This company achieved that with a forward-thinking executive team that bet big on the rise of streaming. Beyond its movie offerings, Netflix also aimed to emulate competitors like Home Box Office (HBO) and American Movie Classics (AMC).

One of the first big hits for Netflix was House of Cards. The one-hour prestige drama starred Kevin Spacey, who at the time was one of the most admired performers in Hollywood. House of Cards was an American remake of a British political drama about an ambitious and amoral politician. House of Cards met with critical acclaim and was a genuine hit for the streaming service.

Since then, Netflix has railed off hit after hit. For the first time in its history, Netflix presented detailed data that broke down those views. The most viewed Netflix show of all time is still Squid Game season one, a dramatic Korean thriller that captured global attention through its run. The first season of Wednesday has racked up the second-most views. Rounding out the five most viewed are the fourth season of Stranger Things, Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story, and the first season of Bridgerton.

Shares of Netflix have climbed 62% in 2023 as of close on Wednesday, December 13. That has thrust the stock into positive territory in the year-over-year period.
