In truth, repo companies are held in legal standards which prohibit specific actions and restricts their authority at any point during all or any attempt in repossession.
If the loan company, repossession company, or anyone acting on behalf of the loan company or repossession company is involved in any unlawful activity or wrongdoing at any point during the repossession process, the loan company or repo company may lose all, or some of the legal rights they have against you. It may be unlawful for repo agents to enter restricted areas to repossess your vehicle, boat, or any other valuable item. Examples of unlawful entry with the intent to repossess include, but aren't limited to entering restricted areas of a government facility or airport without permission from the necessary authorities, illegally entering your home or your garage, illicitly moving another car, truck, or any other valuable item that may be blocking the item that's to be repossessed. Simply put, the loan or repo company have no legal right to touch any vehicle, boat, truck, or any other valuable item that isn't the item they're supposed to repossess.

According to the law, if your car, truck, or any other valuable item was repossessed and had professional materials or personal items inside, the loan company or repo company must give you back those items. In some instances, you'll be required to pay a small fee for storage or retrieval. Failure to present those items back to you may lead to criminal charges of grand or petit theft against the persons directly responsible for the repossession act.

You are not required to open your garage or move a car that's blocking the item that's being lawfully repossessed. You're also not required to open the car they're attempting to repossess.
While a lot or repossessions involve heated disputes, it's extremely important to avoid performing physical or verbal threats or getting involved in unlawful acts. You have rights but so do the repo agents.
