We're always hearing about how money can't buy happiness, or how you can't buy love. If this is true, why are we always wishing for a little more money? Most of us don't believe that a big pile of money will make us happy, but we think that a little more money -- enough to provide a little cushion, or perhaps to buy some fun item -- would make all the difference. Most of us are quite moderate and reasonable in the amount of money that we feel would make us happy.

But would just a little more money really make you happy?
You know that money is a necessity. We need it for the basics of life; it's a requirement for survival. Having a little more money might enable you to move from survival mode into living mode. There's something to be said for that. However, before you get too wrapped up in the idea that a little more money will make you happy, it's a good idea to carefully consider why you think more money will add to your enjoyment of life.
Ask yourself this question: Do you want more money so that you have freedom to spend more time with loved ones? Or do you want to buy more things?
If your desire for a little more money is centered on material things, you might find that more money won't make you happy. You can always buy something newer, bigger, better...something more. However, if your thoughts are focused on simple pleasures, more toward spending quality time with family and friends, and if you can keep your spending under control while inviting more love in your life, then perhaps the additional freedom extra income can give will contribute to your happiness.
The key is in being content with yourself, and finding happiness in relationships and within your own life, rather than fixating on outside material things, accomplishments and status. While money may not be able to buy happiness, it might be able to buy a little more freedom to spend more time with the people you love.
