Loonie slips below parity with U.S. dollar

The Canadian dollar slipped below parity with the U.S. greenback Monday as turmoil continues to grip world markets.

The loonie lost more than half a cent to briefly dip under $1 U.S. before regaining some strength to trade at 100.11 cents U.S., which was down 0.29 of a cent from Friday's close.

Investors have been moving to the safety of the U.S. dollar amid concerns about European debt and the possibility that Greece may default on its loans.
