In Korea, the Kospi declined 137.49 points, or 2%, to 6,303.90.
In Taiwan, the Taiex let go of 16.18 points, or 0.03%, to 49,806.37.
In Singapore, the Straits Times index fell 93.1 points, or 1.6%, to 5,608.44.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 inched down 16.08 points, or 0.1% to 13,684.04.
In Australia, the ASX 200 gave back eight points, or 0.1%, to 8,727.68
