Hong Kong Snaps 5-Session Slump

Asia-Pacific markets are mixed on Tuesday, after Wall Street’s tech selloff which saw Tesla tumbling 6% after Goldman Sachs downgraded the electric car maker, citing pricing headwinds.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 lost 160.48 points, or 0.3%, to 32,538,33.

Other major tech names like Nvidia, Alphabet and Meta Platforms also lost more than 3% each.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng sprinted 354 points, or 1.9%, to 19,148.13.

In Australia, ahead of tomorrow’s inflation figures for May, which will give a clue to the Reserve Bank of Australia’s rate moves in August.

In other markets

The CSI 300 recovered 35.73 points, or 0.9%, to close at 3,845.43.

In Korea, the Kospi Index lost 0.81 points to 2,581.39.

In Taiwan, the Taiex index staggered 171.34 points, or 1%, to 16,887.90.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 nicked higher 10.52 points, or 0.1%, to 11,649.20.

In Australia, ASX 200 regained 39.56 points, or 0.6%, to 7,118.21.
