NASDAQ Futures Rise, Palantir Shows Way



Stock futures edged higher Tuesday, with tech shares leading the gains, following a sharp jump in the major indexes in the previous session.

Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials popped 378 points, or 0.7%, to 53,712, led by a 6% rise in Caterpillar shares, after the industrial giant reported better-than-expected Q2 numbers

Futures for the S&P 500 captured 13.75 points, or 0.2%, to 7,642.

Futures for the NASDAQ Composite spiked 239.5 points, or 0.8%, to 29,131.25.

Investors are closely watching SpaceX, which is set to report its first quarterly earnings as a public company later. The rocket company’s share price was up 0.8% ahead of the market open.

The major stock averages surged in Monday’s session, with the Dow closing at a record high, as Amazon eclipsed $3 trillion in market cap for the first time.

Nvidia shares also ripped higher along with Meta Platforms. Google parent Alphabet and Microsoft also popped during the day.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 gathered 0.3% Tuesday, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng retreated 0.6%.

Oil prices dipped 10 cents to $80.24 U.S. a barrel.

Gold prices shone brighter $21.10 to $4,111.60 U.S an ounce.
