Doctors are increasingly treating heart disease and other conditions with procedures that require less invasive tools. In fact, that shift is creating greater demand for imaging technology that helps them see where they’re working, creating opportunities for companies such as Conavi Medical (TSXV: CNVI) (OTCQB: CNVIF), Philips (NYSE: PHG), Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX), Terumo (OTC: TRUMY), and Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT).
For instance, Conavi’s next-generation, FDA-cleared imaging system combines two technologies: intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Together, they give cardiologists a more detailed look inside the arteries that supply blood to the heart. It also allows doctors to examine blockages, assess plaque and calcium buildup, and measure the area that needs treatment. All of which helps them choose the right size stent and decide how to prepare the artery before inserting it.
The images also help doctors check the results. After placing a stent, they can see whether it has fully expanded and sits well against the artery wall. They can also spot small tears or gaps that might be difficult to see with a traditional angiogram, giving them a chance to address those issues before finishing the procedure. For patients, that clearer view may lead to better outcomes, giving doctors more ways to assess the artery and guide treatment.
Conavi Medical (TSXV: CNVI) (OTCBQ: CNVIF) Will Also Showcase FDA-Cleared Hybrid Imaging System at Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2026
Conavi Medical, a commercial-stage medical device company focused on designing, manufacturing and marketing imaging technologies to guide minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures, today announced its participation in Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2026, taking place October 31– November 3, 2026, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.
This will be Conavi’s first TCT conference since receiving U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its next-generation hybrid intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging system. Conavi will showcase the cleared system alongside an expanded scientific and educational program featuring a podium case presentation, a new preclinical abstract and participation in two CRF Imaging Lab sessions.
Conavi’s technology combines the depth of IVUS with the high resolution of OCT, providing simultaneous, co-registered views of coronary arteries within a single system. TCT provides an opportunity to introduce physicians to the next-generation platform and discuss the growing role of hybrid imaging in guiding percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
“This year’s TCT marks an important step for Conavi as we showcase our next-generation system following FDA clearance, giving physicians IVUS and OCT imaging simultaneously in a single pullback,” said Thomas Looby, President and Chief Executive Officer of Conavi Medical. “With a podium presentation, an abstract and participation in physician education sessions on the program, we have a broader presence at TCT this year. We look forward to introducing physicians to our cleared system and building relationships with potential clinical users as we advance our U.S. commercialization.”

About TCT
Organized by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics is an international educational meeting focused on interventional cardiovascular medicine, bringing together physicians, researchers and industry to share research and advances in catheter-based therapies.
Other related developments from around the markets include:
Philips, a global leader in health technology, and Imricor Medical Systems (ASX: IMR), a pioneer and world-leading developer of MR-compatible products for interventional MR procedures, announced a new Interventional MR (iMR) lab solution for Philips 1.5T MR. The first commercially available configuration combines Philips’ 1.5T MRI platform and Imricor's portfolio of iMR systems and consumables, enabling an MR-guided workflow for cardiac intervention, without compromising on MR field strength. Cardiac arrhythmias affect millions of people worldwide, and catheter ablation is an established and increasingly utilized treatment for many complex cardiac arrhythmias. Yet today, these procedures continue to rely primarily on X-ray fluoroscopy, which provides only indirect visualization of soft tissue while exposing patients and clinical teams to ionizing radiation. MRI has already transformed cardiac diagnosis by enabling clinicians to visualize cardiac anatomy and tissue in exceptional detail. Bringing that same level of tissue insight into intervention has the potential to help physicians guide therapy more precisely, assess treatment response during procedures and identify potential therapy gaps before a patient leaves the procedure room – all within a radiation-free work environment of an iMR.
Boston Scientific generated net sales of $5.442 billion during the second quarter of 2026, growing 7.5 percent on a reported basis and 7.0 percent on an operational1 and organic2 basis, all compared to the prior year period. The company reported GAAP net income attributable to Boston Scientific common stockholders of $907 million or $0.61 per share (EPS), compared to $797 million or $0.53 per share a year ago, and achieved adjusted3 EPS of $0.86 for the period, compared to $0.75 a year ago. "Our team delivered a solid quarter while continuing to navigate a dynamic environment," said Mike Mahoney, chairman and chief executive officer, Boston Scientific. "We are focused on disciplined execution and prioritizing investments in our highest-impact opportunities, and we remain confident in Boston Scientific's long-term growth, anchored by our category leadership strategy and our commitment to meaningful innovation for patients and physicians."
Terumo, announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Arsenal Medical Inc., a privately held, clinical-stage biomaterials company developing NeoCast, an investigational next-generation liquid embolic technology for the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH). Upon completion, the proposed acquisition would expand Terumo Neuro’s liquid embolic portfolio, advance its strategy to bring differentiated neurovascular technologies to physicians and patients, and support its continued focus on innovations to preserve and restore brain health. “NeoCast represents a compelling opportunity to advance what could be a game-changing innovation in the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma,” said Carsten Schroeder, CEO, Terumo Neuro. “As MMA embolization emerges as an important new treatment option, this purpose-developed, next-generation liquid embolic technology has the potential to make a meaningful impact for physicians and patients, while supporting our mission to preserve and restore brain health. We are impressed by the progress Arsenal Medical has made and look forward to combining our global neurovascular expertise with its differentiated technology platform following the close of the transaction.” cSDH is a significant and growing neurological condition, particularly among aging populations. The condition may cause cognitive decline and disability. It has been described as a potential cause of reversible dementia, and can be associated with substantial mortality within one year. While surgical drainage remains a common treatment approach, recurrence after surgery continues to be a clinical challenge. Middle meningeal artery embolization has emerged as a promising adjunctive or alternative approach by targeting the vascular pathology believed to contribute to hematoma persistence and recurrence.
Abbott Laboratories, the global healthcare leader, announced U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for updates to the CardioMEMS HF System that enable new patient-facing capabilities through the CardioGuide HF App. For the first time, care teams can allow U.S. CardioMEMS patients to view their pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) readings directly on their smartphones, giving them greater insight into their condition and helping them take a more active role in their care. Heart failure can worsen long before symptoms become noticeable. Pulmonary artery pressure — the pressure of blood flowing from the heart to the lungs — can rise as heart failure worsens, often weeks before patients experience any symptoms. The CardioMEMS HF System, which has been shown to reduce heart failure hospitalizations2,3 and mortality risk4,5, measures pulmonary artery pressure through an implanted sensor in the pulmonary artery. For more than a decade, clinicians have used pulmonary artery pressure readings from the CardioMEMS HF System to help identify signs of worsening heart failure and guide treatment. Building on that clinical experience with CardioMEMS, Abbott is continuing to evolve heart failure management with digital tools that help keep clinicians and patients connected between office visits. The CardioMEMS HF System with the CardioGuide HF App represents an important step toward helping patients take an earlier, more active role in understanding and managing their heart failure.
