Canada Jetlines Halts Domestic Routes

Upstart carrier Canada Jetlines has halted its domestic routes as it refocuses operations on sun destinations.

The privately held carrier has stopped its twice-weekly return trips between Toronto and Vancouver and Toronto and Calgary after beginning commercial operations last September.

However, the airline continues to offer two return flights per week from Toronto to Las Vegas and Toronto to Cancun, Mexico.

Additionally, Canada Jetlines said that it plans to resume domestic Canadian flights this autumn after it restructures to lease its aircraft.

Canada’s airline industry has seen a rise in competition coming out of the pandemic, with as many as six airlines now flying some of the country's most popular routes, notably between Toronto and the western cities of Vancouver and Calgary.

However, like Canada Jetlines, not all the new entrants fly across the entire country and other carriers, including Flair Airlines, have also had to scale back their operations in recent months.
