Figures released by Statistics Canada reported that this country's economy resumed growing in the third quarter, officially ending the mild recession that hit the country in the first two quarters of 2015.
The agency reported that the economy expanded at an annual pace of 2.3% in the three months that ended in September, slightly below economists' expectations.
Hikes in exports and household spending drove growth in the third quarter. But the economic report showed warning signs that the economic rebound is weak.
For September, GDP contracted by 0.5%, following three consecutive months of growth.
The economy fell into recession in the first two quarters of 2015 as it contracted by a revised annual pace of 0.7% over the first three months of 2015 and by a further 0.3% in the second quarter.
