Sales Of Dried Cannabis And Oils Rise In Canada

Sales of dried cannabis products and cannabis oils are on the rise in Canada.

The latest data from Health Canada shows that sales of legal dried cannabis grew 7% in May from April, while legal sales of cannabis oil increased 19.2% from the previous month. Total sales of dried pot amounted to 9,495 kilograms in May, up from 8,874 kilograms in April. Meanwhile, total cannabis oils sales were 9,773 litres, as both medical and adult-use sales increased.

Total finished inventory of dried cannabis rose 27.5% in May from the previous month to 39,891 kilograms, while finished oil inventory grew by 18.3% to 85,639 litres as pot-infused edibles and other next-generation products are set to be legalized later this year.

Unfinished inventory of dried cannabis flower rose 21.7% since April to 224,037 kilograms at the end of May, while unfinished oil inventories dropped by 10.7% to 42,350 litres during the period, according to Health Canada.

New cannabis products — edibles, beverages, topicals and extracts — will be for sale legally in Canada in mid-December of this year. Regulations will come into effect on October 17 (the one-year anniversary of cannabis legalization), and the additional products will be available for purchase two months later, according to the federal government in Ottawa.
